June 2014 Round-Up and July 2014 Plan

Hello all! πŸ˜€

This is the first post I’ve had to properly say hi to everyone after my break, which was lovely, and thank you for all the nice comments you replied with πŸ™‚

So, now onto the round-up of June. Wow, I don’t think I can even keep up with how fast this year is going! How is it July already? πŸ˜€

– Kept on schedule! Finished the first draft of my book by the end of June.
– Posted every scheduled day including re-blogging.
– I got my first reviews for my books (5* for Stolen, 4* for Heart of the Arena!!- Rather excited if you couldn’t tell).
– Connected regularly with other bloggers.
– Started to more actively support fellow authors with tweets and facebook as well as doing a support post with links to other indie books (worth checking out the comments too, some great suggestions for books for your summer reading).
– Read 4 books- The Vessel by Callum McLaughlin, The Stolen Throne by David Gaider, Olivia’s Choice by Taylor Grace, Immortal Dreams Anthology by Chrissy Peebles and C.M.Owens
– Linked to other’s posts, but not enough!

So I think I actually met most of my goals for June, which is a nice surprise as it felt like another rather manic month!

Onto July:

1st-5th- Editing first draft/Work on art for the book
6th- 20th- Off to the readers for editing/Plan next book/Start working on the cover of current book.
21st-29th- Finish editing/Formatting/Cover
30th July- July EBook Review
31st July- Release Day!

– Read 4 books
– Link to other’s post more often.
– Keep actively supporting other authors.
– Look for new ways to market my books (using illustration, etc)

An exciting month ahead again!

I was also interviewed by Melissa Barker-Simpson, which was great fun!

I am planning to do a complete overhaul of my blog social media pages etc, changing the theme and taking some suggestions that people commented in my marketing post (books in the side bar, etc). So if my blog looks messy and weird over next few days, it’s probably because I am fiddling with it, apologies in advance! πŸ˜€

It’s also CampNano this month, which I’m not participating in, but to all those brave writers who are… GOOD LUCK! πŸ˜€

Progress Report:

Status of Fourth Manuscript: Editing first draft.

Books read: 0/4

July eBook review: Book read. Review written and ready (Yay for being super-organised!)

  1. Sounds like you’re doin’ pretty well – that’s awesome. Glad you got to make some free time for yourself and hope you enjoyed it, Mishka.

      • Nothing aside from the usual – write 10k words (though this time I’m doing it in the construct of Camp NaNo, it is no different from my usual monthly goals) and try to get promoted. Same ol’, same ol’ haha.

      • Haha thanks! I’d love to do more – I just need some ideas. I have a few, but I keep scrapping ’em for whatever reason. So, hopefully. :]

  2. I’m really impressed with your dedication and I look forward to reading your books. Thank you for being a constant blogging friend.
I’m having a break from blogging for a while, but will return at some point. πŸ™‚

    • Have a nice break, and I will look forward to your returning. Taking some time away can really help give you a boost in blogging and writing again πŸ˜€

Thank you for reading and commenting πŸ™‚

    • I hope everything goes as smoothly as planned! Life does tend to like to throw a few curveballs at times πŸ˜€

Have you got much planned for July?

Thank you for the encouraging comment πŸ™‚

  3. Wow, written down, all those achievements and goals look mind blowing! We’re all just happy to share in your successes and the journey as a whole. Thanks again for doing the interview πŸ™‚

    • June was a busy month, and it looks like July will be as well. It’s nice to take a look back at what you can achieve in the time, I find it can be very motivating πŸ˜€

Thank you so much for the encouraging comment, and for interviewing me! πŸ˜€

  4. You need help with the re-decorating of your blog social media, let me know. You already know what I can put together and what it looks like πŸ˜‰

    • Thank you so much for the offer, I expect I will be taking you up on it. I haven’t even started looking at the new themes yet, and trying to work out how to organise it all and have my books up, etc is going to be interesting πŸ˜€

      • It’s fun. The easiest ones to do are the Customizable headers features. More than one layout option with columns/side bars. I’m fairly happy with my layout. A psst, I had a lady who works in author promotions check my blog out. Can let you know some things she said that may help.

      • Well I’m having my novel proofread at the moment and then once I’ve gone through the corrections etc I hope to publish it by the end of the summer. My husband is doing the cover and technical side of it (i.e. uploading it to Amazon) for me. Which is great cos I wouldn’t have a clue!! He did a great cover for my first novel. He’s done graphic design for work and he’s also very tech savvy so I’m lucky!

  5. It’s so exciting to hear your accomplishments and upcoming goals–keep it up, you are very inspiring πŸ™‚

    • Thank you so much πŸ˜€ I do enjoy these round up posts, I like to have a nose at how everyone else is doing, it’s very motivating and a great to thing to see when people get through so much in a month!

Thank you for the lovely comment πŸ™‚

  6. Going to have your book ready to print by the end of this month?! Blimey, that’s going to be quick work. I’d better be on the ball re: editing then πŸ™‚

    • Well, I’m hoping to get editing done by end of this week, and then was wondering if 2 weeks was enough for you to read over and edit?

So far, things are going smoothly, but you know how long that tends to last πŸ˜€

      • I’ll try to get it done in two weeks. Sounds like it should be plenty of time, but I can never predict how my schedule works out.

Looking forward to getting to read it! Good luck working on the draft!

    • Thank you πŸ˜€ I like making a schedule for myself, I think it helps keep me motivated and on track!

Thank you for reading and commenting πŸ™‚

  7. I need some of your motivation, Mishka! No big plans for me this months apart from trying to get my latest novel into last draft and published next month πŸ˜€

  8. Wow, that’s ambitious. My problem with planning, is that I love planning. It’s the doing that gets me! You mention working on your book cover, are you a visual artist too??
