It’s Tuesday and you know what that means: Romance Weekly Blog Hop!
If you’re joining me from Meggan Connors then hello and welcome! 🙂
Now, let’s see what questions we have this week.
1. How often do you write?
5 days a week, usually for around 2-3 hours, though I am hoping to gradually increase the amount of hours I write.
I write Monday-Friday, and take weekends off, so as I can avoid burning out. But, if I am behind schedule then I will write on weekends too.
2. Do you think it’s important to your craft to write as much as you can, and as often as you can?
Yes, otherwise how would writers improve and discover new techniques? 😀 The way I try to develop my skill is by writing different things: short stories, fan fiction, blog posts, non-fiction and even poetry sometimes.
When I find new advice from another writer, I am always keen to try it out and see if it works for me. I keep a variety of notebooks scattered about that I can grab when an idea strikes, and I just jot down a scene or short story when I can, not just because it helps improve my writing, but also because it’s fun!
Kinda like how artists often do doodles or sketches. I think any little thing you can do helps 🙂
3. What is your opinion on the saying, ‘If you don’t write every day, you’re not a writer’?
I don’t believe that. Writers have to have a life too 😀 You’re a writer if you love to write, no matter how much you get to do it.

Another set of interesting questions this week, how would answer them?
Now let’s go check out what the fabulous Leslie Hachtel has to say in response.

July eBook review: Written and ready.
Sensible schedule and nicely expressed.
Thank you 🙂
It’s nice that you have such a set schedule and manage to stick to it; I’m very jealous 😉
I am a big fan of routine and schedule… and lists, generally just any kind of organisation 😀
Thank you for reading and commenting 🙂
I admire you for having a schedule and knowing what suits your writing. I’m glad you get refreshed on the weekends and can come back to your story with a fresh eye.
Having a break certainly helps, it really does help keep me motivated and fresh 😀
Thank you so much for reading and commenting 🙂
I like that even though you have a schedule, you still jot bits and pieces her and there. Scattered writing is fun too.
I do like doing random bits of writing, it helps keep my skill together but also keeps writing fun 😀

Love the new look, Mishka! This blog rocks!
Thank you so much 😀 I thought it looked clean and easy to navigate.
I have a similar schedule. I have Scrivener project totals include weekdays, not weekends. If I have something come up during the week that hinders my progress, I add writing time during the weekend to keep my pace up.
Yeah, if I miss a day of writing I will usually write on a weekend to make it up. I really don’t like falling behind 😀
Thank you so much for reading and commenting 🙂
Writers have a life? Who knew?
I know, right? 😀
Thank you for reading and commenting 🙂
Love your answer to #3! Just because we skip a day it doesn’t mean we’re less of a writer. Btw, I like what your blog’s new look.
*I like your blog’s new look
(oops!)
I think as long as we write when we can, then we are writers, no matter if you get to do that once a week or everyday 😀
Thank you for reading and commenting, glad you like the blog, took ages to choose a theme I liked 🙂
I’m so schedule oriented, 🙂 Love your writing schedule 🙂 Great answers!!!
I love schedules and lists! They make me very happy 😀

Mishka – your words about taking weekend off hit home. I used to try not to write on weekends, but find myself doing it more and more often. I never really understood the 24/7 nature of this job. Still try to not spend as much time at night. Everyone needs down time and reality TV.
I think it is really important to take a break, just so as you don’t get burnt out and can still enjoy what you do. If you flooded your life with it, it could easily turn into a chore rather than something you look forward to doing 😀

I keep notebooks with me too! In fact, while I was getting my hair done today, I got a couple ideas and out came the pen and notebook.
I always have to have a notebook with me now, can’t live without one! 😀
Thank you for reading and commenting :
I love that you have a schedule.
I try to write every day, but I allow myself breaks. Weekends tend to be my uninterrupted writing time, though. I write as long as the ideas are coming. When I draw a blank or get stuck, I take time off and write something else.
Great post!
I usually take an elongated break from writing as well if I get stuck. Sometimes having time away from it can really bring back the creative flow 😀
Thank you for reading and commenting 🙂
It’s awesome to have such a flexible career that writers could be successful with strategies they created.
It is nice to be able to decide your own schedule and be able to work around it when needed 😀
Thank you for reading and commenting 🙂
I’m a notebook carrier too! I have to have them or I freak out. Great answers!!
I do love notebooks, I have a habit of buying new ones before I’ve finished the old ones 😀
Thank you so much for reading and commenting 🙂
I enjoyed your answers, and I’m not surprised at all by your discipline when it comes to writing. Your planning/scheduling seems to be rubbing off on me, which is fabulous! 🙂
I do love a good schedule, though I am in awe of those people who can just do things when needed with no plan at all. That seems like a lot of freedom 😀
Thank you for the kind comment! 🙂
There’s an element of freedom, but also utter chaos! I’m trying to find a happy medium 🙂
Finding what works for you is a great feeling, certainly makes things calmer 😀
Though you’ve had tons going on and you’ve still managed to post and write short fiction, I am amazed at how much you do!
I’m learning to plan! But it’s only the support of people like you that maintains my motivational levels – lately I’ve been feeling the burn. Not that I’ll give in 😉
